Powder Day

I went skiing today with D, a friend that John Jost introduced me to. D and I went to Keystone and it was looking like it was going to be a yucky day on the way to the mountain. When we got there it was a nice powder day. Although, it did snow all day long and it was pretty cold outside. We had about 4 to 6 inches of fresh snow on most of the mountain with parts going almost up to my knees. The moguls were in perfect shape with over 4 inches of fresh powder on them. We got to make first tracks down 2 or 3 runs. It is a different feeling skiing through powder that no one else has skied through yet. It's kind of like floating. I liked the feeling of the snow that would get blown airborne by my legs as I went through the snow. This was my first true "talcum powder" untracked powder day that I've ever had and I have to say that it was really addictive. The snow today would just blow all over the place the second you disturbed it.

So, I gotta ask, who's jealous? :)

Because of the weather, I didn't take too many pictures though. But I did get a few good ones. Maybe D will send me some of the ones that he took.

I can't see my skis, can you?

Moguls with powder are awesome.

Jeff's Visit

My buddy Jeff's wife surprised him with a ski trip out to see me for his Christmas present this year. Jeff really lucked out. We had great conditions with new snow and comfortable temperatures. Unfortunately, he had to leave too soon because right after he left, we got 2 feet of fresh powder.

I think Jeff had a really good time. I was glad to have him out here because we had an awesome time. It really helped with the early morning drive because Jeff was still on East Coast time.

This picture is Jeff and me in the back bowls of Vail. Vail is my favorite ski area so far. The bowls are the best of the best. I'd equate it a lot to Snowbird in Utah. I think Jeff liked Vail best too.

Here is another one of Jeff in the back bowls.

After Vail, we went to Keystone the next day. We happened to run into some friends of mine and we had another good day of skiing. Keystone didn't have quite as good of snow though.

This is a photo from Keystone looking at Breckenridge.

Still on Break

While we were still on vacation in NC, Jenny and I had to make a trip to the Biltmore to finalize wedding plans. The inn is so cool looking. The mountains are really pretty up there. Very wet and green. It's a lot different than the rocky dry conditions in Colorado.

We got to sample the food we are having at the wedding. It is phenomenal. This was my great contribution to the wedding plans. :) Am I lucky or what?

This is off the balcony looking down on the outside wedding area.

And finally, the house.

Merry Christmas

Well this is my first time updating the blog since Christmas. Jenny and I had a good time back in NC. I got to eat all my favorites....Bojangles (not 3 hours after we got off the plane)...Mellow Mushroom...Amedeo's...Mom's cookin.

Here's me after eating all that food. Notice the big smile.

Here is one of Seth and G'ma.

Jenny N and Dieter. This was the first time I met Dieter. He is such a nice guy. If you see him be sure to ask about his interesting New Year's Eve.

Beware the angry squirrel. It's about to bite Uncle Mike.

A day at Copper

Well, since the Bronco's are in the play-offs and the Panther's game isn't till later, I'm going skiing. Today I went with Jenny to Copper ski mountain to have a look at it. I've never been here before, but heard good things. The snow is still really good from the large dumping we got 3 days before.

This is at the top bowl areas...The snow up here is over my boot tops when I ski.

This is also the only area at Copper that I would come specifically to Copper to ski. The rest of the mountain is kind of blah compared to other resorts.

Me at the top.

HOME AT LAST!

Okay, now that the Big Secret has been revealed, the picture where you can see Jenny's amazing ring is here. :)

(Thanks to everyone in Josh's family for making this the best Christmas and New Year's that I have ever had in my entire life. I love you all! - Jenny)
